These 11 cinematic, instrumental, guitar-driven "scenes" encompass elements of smooth jazz, blues, and more--for those who like to "travel" while remaining stationary.
Before beginning work on his fourth album, Ottawa composer, songwriter and guitarist Terry Gomes wanted to try something new. He had already achieved success with his unique variety of pop and folk-rock tunes. His previous album, “Loose Ends” was featured in CBC’s Music Matters E-Zine, he was invited for several radio interviews in the Ottawa area to discuss his music and approach to songwriting, and he has two songs that are still in rotation after four years on The Jewel FM radio stations.

At this point, he felt that it was time to stretch his abilities a little further and in a different way. Having studied composition at Ottawa University, he wanted to revisit writing instrumental music. Instead of using words to tell a story, he envisioned an album that would evoke scenes of different times and places, using his guitar as the narrator. In this way his listeners could “travel” on short trips during the course of each piece.

This different approach was largely inspired by his admiration of many vintage film and television composers. A lot of their music stands well on its own. Following this new direction, Terry continues to display his unique and varied musical voice.

So welcome to the new album by Terry Gomes. Shh.
