Terry Gomes: Gomesongs

Sea Foam Green

(Terry Gomes)
Written in 2000, this song was my reaction to
the vast array of what I consider ridiculous names for colours to
describe clothing, paint, and so on. I prefer more straightforward colours
like green, blue, shrimp, or squid. At that time I was bombarded with comments about all sorts of colour varieties as they pertained to fashion. This song was my response.
"We bought a house, a bungalow,
She wanted it done by Art Deco.
Who is he?
I've never heard of Art,
We can get it done by Wal Mart.
Can we do it in blue?
(So morose a hue!)
Can we do it in red?
(Too bold she said)
How about white?
(A little too trite)
What do you want to do?
She wanted sea foam green..."
